When Will Me Make Cops Prove Money Is for Drugs So They Stop Stealing From Law Abiding Folks?

Question by Bowl-O-Cat: When will me make cops prove money is for drugs so they stop stealing from law abiding folks?
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It was a routine trip to Nashville for a New Jersey insurance adjuster.

That is, until he got stopped for speeding on Interstate 40 through the small town of Monterey, Tennessee.

Before the traffic stop was over, the officer would take $ 22,000 cash that the man had been planning to use to buy a car — without charging him with a crime.

“The safest place to put your money if it’s legitimate is in a bank account,” the officer told NewsChannel 5 Investigates. “He stated he had two. I would put it in a bank account. It draws interest and it’s safer.”

“But it’s not illegal to carry cash,” we noted.

“No, it’s not illegal to carry cash. Again, it’s what the cash is being used for to facilitate or what it is being utilized for.”

“But you had no proof that money was being used for drug trafficking, correct? No proof?”

“And he couldn’t prove it was legitimate.”

How could this happen?

This crap has gone on long enough.

To be fair it is extermely supicouos to have $ 22,000 in cash — that would be probably cause for the police to arrest someone,…

Remember the cops only need probably cause — they dont need to prove beyond reasonoble doubt on the streets.

“Why would I have to prove my cash is legitimate? The burden of proof is on the state.”

yes in a court of law — dosent apply to police on the streets — innocnet until proven guilty dosent apply on the streets..
