Drug Abuse Tennessee: Community Programs Take Aim at Prescription Drug Abuse
Without question the biggest challenge those in the addiction treatment field currently face is prescription drug addiction. Prescription drugs account for the majority of drugs of abuse (8 out of 14) at the moment and are destroying our country’s young people. Many states are currently taking steps to combat the problem while claiming the top spot for prescription drug abuse among teenagers.
Treatment admissions for opiates increased over all 6% in the last year, prescription drugs accounted for 1/3 of the opioid addicts admitted. States like Tennessee and Maine are implementing programs to help curtail the mounting problems and skyrocketing prescription abuse treatment admissions. Sources say the main source for prescription drugs amongst teenagers is family and friends. States like Maine are rightfully targeting doctors.

As opposed to the CA which established a bill requiring all public school students to learn about gay history, regardless of religious beliefs or sexual orientation, Tennessee is taking a much more proactive approach by banning any such talks in all state public schools out of respect to religious freedoms in the US Constitution and the Wall of Separation Principle (The separation of church and state).

I live in Tennessee and am applying for a job with the Knoxville Police Department. I used drugs a couple of weeks ago, but won’t use them again. If I fail the pre-employment drug test, can I be arrested?

In isolated parts of Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia poverty is on the rise and along with the growing rate of poverty, drug dealing and drug abuse is also on the rise. As if illegal drug trafficking in these parts wasn’t enough, the Appalachian regions’ prescription drug abuse rates are going through the roof.
Prescription drugs such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, xanax and valium are abused on a daily basis. Lately, the Appalachian governments have become more firm about prescription deals which has led to addicts and traffickers migrating to more tolerant states such as Florida and Georgia to get purchase more drugs.
