How Do I Convince My Dad to Go to Rehab?
Question by oleskool420: How do I convince my dad to go to rehab?
Please Help… ok my dad overdosed last night after making suicidal comments. We called the EMS and they took him first to the county next to us, then to nashville, and further for a pschiatric evaluation. Hes their tonight and is wanting us to come get him tomorrow, or hell find his own way out(if they approve him to leave) How do I convince him to go to rehab, cuz this is the greatest chance hes got and were behind him 100% and if he doesnt hell continue where he left off with drugs. My good friends dad was buried yesterday due to an overdose and I dont want to experience that, I dont think anyone should. any advice would be greatly apreciated, cuz im the most influential person besides him to do this, my best attempts tonight failed and if theirs anyway yall could help i would be so grateful, thank you!
Thanks both of yall, I just got off the phone with him, I think hes comin home tomorrow but i told him bout my friend and told him I want the best for him, and want things back to how they used to be and made him promise me hed stay here and try his hardest to straighten up, i let him know im here for him always and anything i can do to help i will
Pros of Alcohol and Drug Abuse?
Question by Angel: Pros of alcohol and drug abuse?
I’m having a debate on alcohol and drug abuse for my sociology class and my half of the debate are the pros. I certainly know that the functionalists would say that drug and alcohol abuse is good because it provides jobs for AA employees and provides greater economic flow. I’d actually like to know, are there any other pros besides the mentioned for the abuse of alcohol and drugs? Can the word “abuse” be used in a different context for alcohol and drugs? Please give me something to debate on the pros, thank you!
Okay, let me clarify my point of the debate: I was assigned the half of the debate that is pro drug and alcohol abuse, I had no say. I didn’t just ask for the pros of health, I’m also asking for benefits it causes. Functionalists, Conflict theorists, anything really. It wasn’t my choice to be the pro party. Sorry if I didn’t clarify enough.
Drug Addiction Question?
Question by : Drug addiction question?
I met someone from my church who is thirty-seven years old and is te sweetest person you could ever meet. I’m seventeen and I’m going on a vacation with my parents for one week to spend quality time with them before I go to college. Therefore, we need someone to watch my nine year old sister. Since we have no family that live near us, we thought the person from church would be a great choice, one of the reasons being she has offered. She is married but has no children. One thing worries me, though…she used to be addicted to Heroin. It was a strong addiction, too. She did it since she was around my age (I just met her about eight months ago, but she shared this story with the youth at church). Last year, she stopped and hasn’t done it since, or so she says. She really is a sweet, kind hearted person, but I’m worried about my sister being at a former Heroin addict’s house for seven whole days. I mean, een though she says she’s been clean for almost a year (which I believe), can she be trusted? She used to have everyone’s respect without even trying until they found out she did Heroin…now she has to gain everyone’s respect, if they’re willing to give it back to her. Is she responsible since she used to do Heroin? Will my sister be alright? I never told my family about it because I don’t want them to think differently of her. But, can she be trusted/responsible, or is this all a huge mistake? Also, my sister has ADHD and takes pills for it…will that be dangerous since this woman was a Heroin addict and she will have to give the pills to my sister?
Thanks!
