Question by anglsm: Can anyone advise on terminating my ex husbands parental rights?
I am interested in terminating my 8yr.old son’s fathers parental rights in Tennessee. He has not seen our son in more than 3 years, not paid child support in all of 5 1/2 years, has numerous felony charges, history of drug abuse, and has been in jail many times for failure to pay child support. I ask a lawyer about 3 years ago, she said it would be very difficult to do. But, that was when he was still visiting with him. I stopped visitation after my son told his family doctor about things that was going on. I have documents from his doctor saying he was being verbally and mentally abused. I did not go through the courts about it because I am a single mother and I didn’t have the financial ability to do so. But, the father only complained once and we have never seen him since, other than once in child support court. Since it has been so long since my son has seen or heard from him, is it easier to terminate his parental rights? Is it possible to do so without an attorney?

you can call your court house and ask if they have a form for that.. they just might have something there.. i know in IN as for my sister when the father didnt see the child after one year she was able too do that. start with your court house first.. good luck
