Set Free of Porn Addiction?
Question by Biola: Set free of Porn addiction?
I have been struggling with this question.
For years I have been addicted to Pornography
Now I have been set free through the Blood of Jesus Christ.
Should I tell my Friends and Family about how I used to be Addicted to Pornography?
Or should I keep it to myself?
But If I tell others, won’t people reject me?
If I tell others wouldn’t it do more harm than good?
Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind keeping it to myself, I have no problem with that.
But isn’t it a sin to keep this secret to myself?
If it is a sin, can you give me some scriptural references?

the fact that you posted this question… means you still think of pornography at the back of your head….
No its not a sin if you feel that’s its personal but the scriptures do encourage to share your testimony.
I got free from porn addiction too but I have not told anyone in my family or friends but just online.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;

Hey Josue, great question!
There is power in confession. It’s a sign of a truly repentant heart, a humble one, which is necessary in ANY walk with Christ. I think you will also will garner support from loved ones, you’d be surprised. When I shared with those whom I felt impressed to share with I was greeted with an outpouring of love, and that was even WHILE I was going through it all, still am. That strength has been essential in me continuing to push forward at times.
Another thing that sharing will accomplish is to dispense with the silence. Addiction is FUELED by silence. Addiction also often tries to come back into the lives of those who vanquish it. Having people you can talk to when you’re feeling the itch is VERY helpful. Sharing will strengthen your support system. You will have a team ready to crush Satan when he comes back to claim what was once his.
It’s your choice. I’d make it a matter of sincere prayer & meditation, select people to share with that you feel would offer positive support and help, i.e. those who you truly feel love you, not ones that think there’s nothing wrong with pornography.
Congrats on breaking free man! I admire that and would love to hear your story! Here’s how it’s felt for me at times: http://www.freedomfrompornaddiction.com/frodos-fight-for-freedom.htm
One other thing, in the 12 step program, the last step is service. Speaking out can be a powerful way to lift others to where you now stand: http://www.providentliving.org/familyservices/AddicitonRecoveryManual_36764000.pdf p78
