14 Year Old. Moving Out. What to Know.?
Question by Devy’s: 14 year old. Moving out. What to know.?
Okay, first off thanks for taking the time for reading this, it will have a HUGE effect on my life.
I am not happy at home, I do not get fed properly and I live with a narcotic-addicted mother, and it’s basically mental abuse in disguise. I’m almost sure I could get sent to live with my father if I wanted to, but he’s a hard man to live with, and I’d be deep in depression after just a week with living with him. He doesn’t even want me, he left us.
My Aunt and Uncle are very special people to me who hasn’t shown anything other then truth , and kindness to me my whole life. They have 3 kids, a female and two males. One more female, but she’s 20 and moved out. Niether of them have jobs, and my uncle’s grandmother helps them live. Though my aunt is going to go to school next year to be a nurse, and they have food stamps, and what not.
A couple of years ago my sister just couldn’t deal with living here either , and she was able to move in with them. It was for the school year, and then she moved in with another family member for the rest of her teenage years. She’s now 20 with a great job and house of her own.
My brother always stayed with my mom, he’s 18, in jail, and has a child, including a terrible record.
I talked to my aunt about living with them, and she said she doesn’t want me doing it unless I know for sure I just can’t live here anymore. Which I know I can’t. My sister was able to move in with her because she was in a dangerous habitat, she picked fights with our mother. I just can’t do that, and while I’m sure the drug abuse here would deem this a bad habitat , I don’t want my mother going to jail or anything.
My aunt had sad that they would have to move if I did move in, because they’re isn’t any extra rooms here, and they would make me have my own room or else the law wouldn’t let me come move in.
They have a shed outside, and I wondered if they could use that as a room for me so they wouldn’t have to move. It’s not attached to the house itself, but it’s inside a fenced in place, and it’s larger then a kitchen.
If we can’t , we would have to move.
My mother has a weird, twisted way of loving me, and she needs mental help. She would not let me go anywhere, but if I told her what she’s doing to me, as in food and all the drugs, I need to be somewhere else, I’m sure she would send me, because I know she isn’t willing to improve.
Thanks for reading, and what I am really asking is…
Could I successfully attempt a move to my aunts, without possibly landing a life with my father or a foster care group?
How easy would the transition be for my aunt and her family?
How much would it hurt financially for them?
Can I do this without my mother going to jail?
I am 14 years old, live in America, Tennessee.
My sister is just now getting settled and has most of her time spent at her job, but yeah, I would be able to stay with her, but I’m sure she wouldn’t want me to. She doesn’t have enough time in her day, and she likes to party when she has free days.
Yes, I have grand parents who just live down the street from me. I go to there house everyday , and I barely don’t spend time at home anymore.
Though the problem is they’re poor, and the money they do have they spend on useless things as of MP3 players, (they are fascinated by all the new equipment) so they don’t really spend enough money on food. They think they do, but they don’t. They are also very old, and Alzheimer’s are creeping in on them. I basically take care of them, so I don’t have anyone else to turn to other then my aunt.
No, my mom is disabled and takes money from the state. She wouldn’t be able to support me in anyway. My father doesn’t support me now, even though he supposed

I think moving to your aunts house is a wonderful idea and, hey, your sister did it so why can’t you? As for the rest of your questions..well im no pro but I think you should call one of those special hot lines and just explain the situation and ask them your questions..I just noticed one that answered a question for someone else..Boys Town Counselor they were called. Just give them a call or drop them an email and I am positive they will be willing to help answer your questions.
